Juan's Biography :
Juan comes
from Colombian descent but was originally born in
Brooklyn, New York and raised in between Colombia,
Miami, Spain, and New York. At the age of 16, Juan
was introduced to salsa music on the park
playground, where his interest in salsa dancing
began. From then on he began going out with his
friends to local salsa clubs. Juan joined the United
States Marine Corps at 18 where he was sent to serve
two years in Okinawa, Japan. To his surprise salsa
was very big within the Japanese community, which
led him to continue with his dancing. He was
transferred to San Diego in September of 1999, where
his love for salsa dancing took off to another
level. In October of 2002 he was asked to join
Majesty In Motion Dance Company, the largest and |

fastest growing salsa dance
company in San Diego. . In 2003 he decided to begin
teaching salsa classes. Since then he's taught and
performed at numerous venues and private events in
around the United States in cities such as San
Diego, Boston, Phoenix, San Francisco, Santa Fe,
Oakland, Palm Springs, Laughlin, and as a guest
dancer six consecutive times at the World Salsa
Congress in Los Angeles. Juan and his partner were
also chosen to represent the United States during
the 50th Anniversary of the Colombian
Festival in South America. Juan has also been a
guest performer with world renowned salsa dancer,
Jayson Molina. Juan is now co-director of Majesty in
Motion, teaching, choreographing routines and
running drills for the different level teams that
comprise the company. You will also find Juan
performing with Majesty in Motion’s professional
dance team as well as with his dance partner, Genny
Pinzon. With over ten years of dance experience,
Juan Hernandez has created a unique style that has
many dancers in the salsa scene considering him the
smoothest salsa dancer in San Diego. This is why he
has a large following of students scattered about
the various dance studios that he teaches at.
